Foodies and carnivores alike will be able to fill their stomachs in the Collar City this Saturday.

The annual Troy Pig Out returns to Riverfront Park, bringing the area's best barbeque eateries to Troy with their best and most unique recipes.

Where is it and what do I need to know when I get there?

There are two-hour parking spots in the Central Business District from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., and four-hour spots at metered pay stations. There are also free parking garages throughout the city Saturday:

  • Fifth Avenue and Broadway
  • First Street (next to YWCA)
  • Congress Street and Fifth Avenue
  • Front Street (behind Arts Center)
  • State and River streets
  • River Street (next to Green Island bridge)

No alcohol, coolers, backpacks, bags, beverage containers or pets are allowed at the event, unless the animals are service animals. Please have your ID with you if you want to drink alcohol at the event.

What's at stake?

Prizes will be given to the barbeque competitors in various categories:

  • Grand champion
  • Mayor's choice
  • Best BBQ chicken
  • Best beef brisket
  • Dinosaur Bar-B-Que People's Choice pork ribs
  • Best pork rib
  • Best pulled pork

The people's choice competition will be held from 3-7 p.m. Pork rib tickets can be purchased for $2, with tickets being redeemed and voting being held from 5-7 p.m.

How about all things not pork-related?

It's not just about ribs and chicken. If you want to prove your gastric supremacy, you could also enter the hot dog eating contest! There are four contestants per round, and you must be at least 18 years old to enter. The winner of each round could be interviewed on Spectrum News on Sunday. The Troy Boys & Girls Club will also sponsor a pie eating contest for staff, volunteers, and students.

What is there beyond food?

How are your bag-tossing skills? Sign up for the Collar City Cornhole Tournament, taking place at noon, 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. You can sign up by clicking here.
