Supporters of Kendra's Law are calling for a permanent passage of the law after the man whose crime inspired was released from prison.
Kendra's Law allows judges to mandate mental health treatment for defendents who are considered a risk to themselves or others.
It was named for Kendra Webdale, a Fredonia native who died in 1999 after Andrew Goldstein pushed her in front of a subway train.
Goldstein served 19 years before being released this month.
Senator Cathy Young explains more about the law.
