Safe injection or consumption sites are meant to prevent drug overdose deaths by having people shoot up in a supervised setting. It's not currently allowed in the state, or country, but has been proposed by people like New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and Ithaca Mayor Svante Myrick. And it's controversial, with people either endorsing the concept to prevent deaths or against it for fear that it only further enables addiction. With us to advocate for legalizing safe consumption sites are Charles King, President and CEO of Housing Works, and Kassandra Frederique, Policy Director at the Drug Policy Alliance.
