For parts of Western New York, it will start off as rain and a wintry mix for Sunday night, but it won't be to the extent of what spots saw Sunday morning.

As the night turns into Monday, any precipitation will change entirely over to snow, with widespread snow across Western New York by daybreak.

By the time you wake up Monday morning, parts of the region will see just a coating, with upwards of an inch or two for parts of the Niagara Frontier, extending closer to the Genesee Valley.

Otherwise, temperatures will fall into the 20s and low 30s by Monday morning. That means any lingering moisture on the roads and outdoor surfaces from Sunday's first round may refreeze. Slick, icy spots will still be a concern through Monday.

So, as you get ready to get out the door Monday morning, make sure you give yourself extra time, plan for less than ideal road conditions, and even brace yourself for reduced visibility as the snow is coming down.

The snow sticks around through most of Monday before slowly, but surely, tapering off Monday evening. By the time it's all said and done, the higher totals will lie to the east of Buffalo.

An inch or two for Buffalo will turn closer to 4-8" farther to the east, closer to the Genesee Valley.

Besides the snow, Monday will be a bit on the cold side. High temperatures will climb into the low to mid 30s, but father inland through the Southern Tier, some spots may not break out of the 20s.

Either way, most will feel like the 20s in terms of wind chills for Monday, courtesy of a north wind at 10 to 15 mph.

Quieter weather returns for Tuesday, but high temperatures will still be trapped in the 30s that day and through the next several days. There will be some dry time in the mix through the new week, but there is a chance of a rain/snow mix for both Wednesday and Friday.
