Portions of several major highways have been closed in Western New York due to rapidly deteriorating weather conditions.
In addition, County Executive Mark Poloncarz has announced a full driving ban will go into effect for all of Erie County at 9:30 a.m. Friday.
According to state police, the following sections of major arteries are currently closed to all vehicles except essential personnel.
- I-190 North
- Closed from Exit 21 (Niagara Scenic Parkway) in Niagara Falls to Exit 25 (Upper Mountain) in Lewiston
- I-190 South
- Closed from Exit 25 (Upper Mountain) in Lewiston to Exit 21 (Buffalo Avenue) in Niagara Falls
- I-290 East
- Closed from I-190 in Tonawanda to I-90 in Amherst
- I-290 West
- Closed from I-90 in Amherst to I-190 in Tonawanda
- Route 400 North
- Closed from Olean Rd in Aurora to I-90 West Seneca
- Route 400 South
- Closed from I-90 in West Seneca to Olean Rd in Aurora
- Route 5 East
- Closed from Big Tree Rd in Hamburg to I-190 in Buffalo
- Route 5 West
- Closed from I-190 in Buffalo to Big Tree Rd in Hamburg
- Route 219 North
- Closed from Peters Rd in Ashford to I-90 in West Seneca
- Route 219 South
- Closed from I-90 in West Seneca to Peters Rd in Ashford
