The New York State Police are gearing up for the lake-effect storm and are prepared to help civilians and local law enforcement agencies across Western New York.
The state police have more than three-dozen emergency vehicles standing by, including Snowmobiles, UTVs and other all-terrain vehicles that will be available to assist stranded drivers and residents. The units have already been brought into the region and have been stationed at locations throughout Erie and Niagara counties.
The agency also has additional staffing on standby, ready to respond to any emergency that could arise as a result of the weather.
Drivers are reminded that if they become stranded they should call 911 and remain belted in their vehicle if it’s safe to do so. First responders will be dispatched to their location to provide help.
