Giving the green light to a green solution, the NFTA has agreed to buy 10 battery-electric buses.
Spectrum News is told the $10 million worth of buses will be delivered in 2022.
The agreement includes an option to purchase up to 140 additional buses over a five-year period.
A pantograph charging station will also be installed in the Cold Springs garage.
When bus drivers park, the ceiling-mounted device will connect to the roof of the bus and charge it overnight.
The NFTA's goal is to have 25% of their buses electric by 2025 and 100% by 2035 to improve air quality.
