Some changes could be coming to a dangerous stretch of Niagara Falls Boulevard.

The state Department of Transportation has released recommendations to improve pedestrian safety.

Some of the suggested changes include lowering the speed limit from 45 to 40 miles per hour between the 290 and Niagara County line.

The state also suggests adding pedestrian signals and high-visibility crosswalks, adjusting the timing of traffic signals, and installing No Turn on Red signs.

These recommendations are a result of a study looking at a 6.5 mile stretch of the Boulevard between Tonawanda Creek Road in Amherst and Kenmore Avenue in the Town of Tonawanda.

Six pedestrians have been killed along that stretch in five years.

Many of the recommendations will be included in a $2 million project that's expected to take place next year.

Some of the recommendations require additional analysis.
