AMHERST, N.Y. — A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a car on Niagara Falls Boulevard in Amherst.
According to officials, 41-year-old Jennifer Duffin was pronounced dead at Erie County Medical Center early Saturday morning.
Police say Duffin was crossing the road near Dexter Terrace shortly before 12:45 a.m. when a 22-year-old Rochester man hit her.
Amherst and Town of Tonawanda police shut the road down for more than four hours.
No charges have been filed and the accident remains under investigation.
This is just the latest in a number of fatal crashes in recent years within a mile of each other on that stretch of Niagara Falls Boulevard.
A highway study was done and more street lights are scheduled to be installed this summer.
