DARIEN, N.Y. — Six Flags Darien Lake is re-branding its waterpark and getting a new water slide this summer.

A six-story tall slide called Wahoo Wave will bring riders through a few twists, a three-story drop and then up a huge wave wall.

Construction is underway and is expected to be completed when the park opens up in May.

In addition to the new slide, the park is re-branding its Splashtown waterpark to Six Flags Hurricane Harbor.

“Six Flags is committed to making the park bigger, better and now wetter than ever with the addition of this world-class waterpark attraction, Wahoo Wave,” Park President Chris Thorpe said in a statement. “With non-stop, soaking thrills for the entire family, Hurricane Harbor will be the perfect summertime escape.”

As for employment opportunities, Darien Lake is looking to hire for 1,500 positions.

An in-person hiring event is taking place this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Darien Lake Hotel.
