The Horn family is full of wide receivers.
Father Joe Horn was a four-time Pro Bowler who played for the Saints and Falcons. Two of his sons also play the position, but Jaycee is the outlier, choosing to guard WRs at the cornerback position.
"My dad kind of pushed me that way just because of the aggression I had growing up and my ball skills," Jaycee Horn said after South Carolina's Pro Day. "He always harped on that if I could do that at the cornerback position, one day I'd make a lot of money. We sometimes go back and forth about it. I pick on my dad, telling him he wouldn't be able to get open on me."
Jaycee is a great combination of size and athleticism at CB. He measured in at 6' and 205 lbs. Horn ran a 4.39 40 at his Pro Day while also hitting 41.5 inches in the vertical jump and 11'1" in the broad jump.
He started 29 games for the Gamecocks, beginning in the slot as a true freshman before kicking outside these last two seasons. Horn was a 2nd-team All-SEC selection this past year after grabbing the only two interceptions of his college career.
Horn believes he is best in press man-to-man coverage, while being very open about the areas he needs to work on at the next level.
"Playing in a straight-up pedal," Horn said. "I didn't do much of that here in college or in high school. I know it's a thing they do in the league, off-man playing in a pedal. That's going to be one of the main focal points after Pro Day in my training. And then I can definitely be a better tackler. From the technique standpoint, keeping my head up and stuff like that."
Horn is in the mix to be the first CB selected in the draft. Bills General Manager Brandon Beane was in attendance at Horn's Pro Day, with the corner well aware of what the Bills are about.
"They're a great organization," Horn said. "They're on the come up. They're a real hard-nosed team. I love the fans from what I see. I'm a big fan of Tre'Davious White. Watch a lot of film on him. It'd be a blessing to go to Buffalo."
Horn is a projected 1st round pick.
