With the Toronto Blue Jays still searching for a temporary home, Senator Chuck Schumer is pushing Major League Baseball's commissioner to have the Jays play in Buffalo.

In both a personal call and a letter to MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred, Schumer says Sahlen Field makes the most sense because of the proximity to Toronto, the major-league quality of the playing surface, and the capability of the city to safely host the team for the entire shortened season.

Schumer says Sahlen Field and the city of Buffalo are willing to address previous concerns, such as inferior lighting and a lack of training space. The Blue Jays would not have any conflicts at Sahlen Field as they would if they shared an MLB stadium with another MLB team like the Pittsburgh Pirates.

According to Schumer, Buffalo would benefit from a boost to the economy by having the Blue Jays there.

A decision will need to be made soon, as the Blue Jays open the season on the road on Friday. Their first scheduled home game is on Wednesday, July 29.
