Buffalo could soon be the newest home of Major League Baseball, for at least a season, as the Toronto Blue Jays will not be allowed to play in Canada during the pandemic.

The Canadian government denied the Major League Baseball team the approval it needed to play in Toronto.

MLB would have needed an exemption to the requirement that anyone entering Canada must quarantine for 14 days, and with all other teams residing in the United States, that would have made games impossible.

Plus, the U.S.-Canada border remains closed to non-essential travel until at least August 21.

At this point, Canada has flattened its coronavirus curve across the country.

Meanwhile, cases continue to surge in parts of the U.S.

Reports out of Toronto say that the Blue Jays decision is down to Buffalo, home of the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons, or Dunedin, Florida, home of Toronto's Single-A affiliate.

The Blue Jays released a statement saying they want to make a decision as soon as possible — as their season set to start Friday in Tampa Bay.
