We all are driven by something.

For Tee Higgins, it was cars early in his football journey.

Little cars.

"I don't want to be out there because it was so hot. I didn't want to play out there with all the pads on," Higgins said at the NFL Combine in late February. "My aunt bribed me saying that 'If you score two touchdowns I'll go buy you five hot wheels cars.' And I was like 'Oh, 2? That's it?' So I went out there and scored two like every game."

The touchdowns continued to be regular even as the hot wheels didn't. Higgins leading the ACC in TD receptions in both 2018 (12) and 2019 (13). Those numbers also ranking top ten nationally each of those seasons.

He finished tied for first in program history with 27 receiving TDs (DeAndre Hopkins and Sammy Watkins).

These last two campaigns are where Higgins really took off. As a sophomore, he reeled in 59 receptions for 936 yards and those 12 TDs, earning 2nd team All-ACC honors.

As a junior this past fall things going up even higher, with 59 catches for 1,167 yards and 13 TDs, earning 1st team All-ACC.

What makes Higgins special is his ball skills and catch radius at 6'4" and 216 pounds.

However, some wonder about his overall athleticism.

"A lot of peope thought I was a slow, tall guy, but the film speaks for itself," Higgins said. "I'm not slow. I'm a tall guy that has great speed. I mock my game after guys like Julio Jones, A.J. Green. With Julio, he's physical and has great long speeed. A.J., he goes up and attacks the ball at the highest point. So I try to mock my game after those guys."

Unfortunately his pre-draft testing does not match the tape in that regard. Higgins posting multiple 40 yard dash times in the mid-4.5s at Clemson's Pro Day. He did not run at the Combine.

His 31 inch vertical jump would have ranked 34 out of 36 wide outs who participated in the drill in Indianapolis.

So it comes down to tape vs. testing with Tee Higgins. While he originally was thought to be in the mix as a 1st round selection, now Higgins is believed to go in the 2nd or even into the 3rd round.
