Erie County is launching a new ambulance service with the goal of expanding services to more rural areas.
The service will serve residents in the towns of Aurora, Boston, Colden, Collins and North Collins, Eden, Holland and Wales.
A special EMS crew and ambulances will be assigned to those areas.
"This service is a safety net for that critical emergency response, especially during peak call volume hours when special events exhaust local EMS resources," said Dr. Gale Burstein, Erie County commissioner of health.
The service is set to start on Monday.
