BUFFALO, N.Y. — A new lawsuit claims Buffalo Public Schools knew about violent threats that led to an attack outside McKinley High School back in February.

The suit alleges the district ignored complaints and warnings from parents, teachers and the Buffalo Teachers Federation, allowing the violent behavior to escalate.

On Feb. 9, a 14-year-old student was stabbed multiple times and a security guard was shot in the leg outside the school.

Two 17-year-olds were charged in the incident.

In a statement, the district says:

"Our collective hearts hurt for the student that was injured as a result of the violence outside of McKinley High School on February 9, 2022, and we wish him well as he continues his recovery. In light of this being a pending litigation matter, the District has no further comment at this time."
