PEMBROKE, N.Y. — The Genesee County Sheriff's office has released the names of two people who died following a crash involving a tractor trailer.

First responders were called to Route 77 at Indian Falls Road in Pembroke just before 2 p.m. Wednesday. 

Deputies say Arnold Herdendorf, 69, of Lockport was heading west on Indian Falls Road when he failed to stop at a stop sign. Herdendorf's sedan collided with a tractor trailer heading north on Route 77. Both vehicles then traveled off the road before striking a utility pole.

Police say Herdendorf and his passenger, Christopher Rowell, 70, of Lockport, were pronounced dead at the scene. The two occupants of the tractor trailer were not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
