A boil water advisory is in effect for the village of Alden.
Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz says the health department found E. coli in two water samples on Thursday. One sample was from the village well and the other was from a home.
Right now, officials are unsure of the source and extent of the contamination.
They say you will likely have to boil water in the village of Alden for brushing your teeth, drinking, cooking, and washing dishes for at least several days.
