State troopers are investigating a shooting that left two hunters wounded in Lockport on Friday.

According to state police, they responded to a field on Raymond Road around 6:20 a.m. for a report of a hunting accident.

When they arrived they found two hunters who had been hit by turkey shot pellets. One man was wounded in the side of the face, the other in the back and the back of the head.

The man who was hit in the face was taken to Erie County Medical Center for treatment. The other man remained at the scene and was speaking with state police. Both men's injuries are considered non-life-threatening.

Troopers at the scene tell Spectrum News the two men had permission to hunt in the field. They say when the men walked back in they field they came upon hunting decoys and thought someone may already be hunting in the area. As they turned around to leave, police that's when they were shot. 

The man who fired the shot reportedly spoke with the two victims and apologized, but then left the scene.

Police say the man, 59-year-old Scott Brown, has been charged with third-degree assault and second-degree reckless endangerment.

The identities of the hunters have not been released.
