Rep. Chris Collins, R-NY27, has been denied an appeal in federal court.
It all has to do with the insider trading charges Collins was indicted on last year.
Collins tried to appeal the charges under the Constitution’s Speech and Debate Clause, which protects members of congress from arrest and questioning while serving the government.
The Department of Justice says the appeal was denied because the indictment doesn't reference material protect by the clause, plus the grand jury wasn't shown privileged material.
Collins' trial is set for February 2020.
He’s due back in court on Thursday in New York City.
