Many local politicians on both the Democratic and Republican sides are sharing their thoughts following the release of the news that President Joe Biden is dropping out of the 2024 presidential race.

Erie County Democratic Party Chair Jeremy Zellner said:

"Joe Biden met the moment, and America is better and stronger because of the devoted service of this good and decent man."

Meanwhile, Republican Rep. Nick Langworthy shared his thoughts on X, formerly Twitter, saying:

"If Joe Biden is not fit to run for president, he is not fit to serve as president. I'm calling on him to resign immediately."

Just after announcing he would not run for a second term, President Biden endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for the job. Democrats immediately swarmed Harris with their endorsements — and their cash.
