New York state's early voting period is in full swing.

In just three days, more than 12,400 people hit the polls to cast their ballots across Erie County, according to the Erie County Board of Elections.

More than 4,600 ballots were cast on Monday, with 1,772 ballots cast by voters registered in the city of Buffalo.

Some of the key campaigns this year are the Buffalo mayoral race and the Erie County sheriff's race.

Board of elections officials are bracing for a high voter turnout.

The early voting period is open from noon to 6 p.m. on weekends, and noon to 9 p.m. on weekdays.

If you plan on voting on Election Day, you can only vote at your assigned polling location.
