BUFFALO, N.Y. — Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is coming to Buffalo to show her support for mayoral candidate India Walton.

Ocasio-Cortez is planning to join Walton in the Queen City this Saturday for a rally to launch the early voting period.

Just this week, the congresswoman called for state Democratic Chair Jay Jacobs to resign after he made a hypothetical analogy comparing the idea of endorsing Walton to endorsing former KKK leader David Duke.

Jacobs later apologized for his comments.

Ocasio-Cortez has voiced her support for Walton since she defeated incumbent Mayor Byron Brown in the Democratic mayoral primary.

The Brown for Buffalo campaign released a statement Wednesday afternoon, saying:

"India Walton continues to court out-of-town socialists and political extremists who are completely removed from any understanding of what everyday Buffalonians want from City Hall. So while they clamor for reversing the progress and success that has taken hold in Buffalo thanks to the leadership of Mayor Brown, our campaign remains focused on the issues that matter most to our city's residents: strong public safety, low taxes, good paying job opportunities and investment in our neighborhoods."
