If you live in Erie County, you can get into the Buffalo AKG Art Museum for free all this week.
During this week of free admission, the exhibitions on display at the AKG include "Quiet Elegance: A Remarkable Bequest," "That Which Binds Us," and "Hi-Vis." Group tours are available Thursday through Sunday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
“Erie County’s funding to the museum directly supports the Buffalo AKG’s mission to inspire creativity, foster dialogue, and expand access to art,” said Peggy Pierce Elfvin Director Janne Sirén. “We wouldn’t be the Buffalo AKG without the support of Erie County and its residents. We strive to be a dynamic civic space that inspires our community and draws art-lovers from around the world to Western New York, and we are grateful for the support that allows us that opportunity.”
“Erie County is proud to support the Buffalo AKG Art Museum and help to ensure that this world-class museum is here today, tomorrow and far into the future,” added Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz. “With Erie County Free Week all county residents can enjoy free admission and the opportunity to explore, examine, discuss, and interpret the irreplaceable artworks within these walls. It’s an opportunity that should not be missed and I encourage individuals and families to come and visit this week. Having an institution such as the Buffalo AKG in our community puts us in the international spotlight and is another reason to be proud of all that Erie County has to offer.”
