The Buffalo Common Council gave the green light on Tuesday to Acting Mayor Chris Scanlon's 2025 capital budget.
Councilmembers voted 6-to-1 to approve the financial plan.
Of that funding, the Common Council says more than $7 million is set to help support the city's fire and police departments, while nearly $3 million is set to be invested in community centers and city infrastructure.
Scanlon says the budget leverages federal and state funding in hopes of generating $1 billion of indirect economic impact to the city.
"This historic capital budget reflects the shared commitment of my administration and the Common Council in addressing some of the city’s immediate challenges and investing in innovative solutions for growth and Buffalo’s future," Scanlon said in a statement. "With unprecedented collaboration among our county, state, and federal partners, we are investing in Buffalo's future to build a city that is safe, healthy and strong.”
