Buffalo Common Councilmember Rasheed Wyatt officially announced his candidacy for mayor on Monday.

Wyatt kicked off his mayoral campaign Monday night.

The Medaille College graduate was first elected to the University District council seat in 2014.

He wants to focus on removing dysfunction at City Hall.

"I will give every department head an opportunity to tell me what some of the problems are," Wyatt said. "I'm not just going to go in there and say, 'I'm going to clean everything.'  I want to hear from you. What have the challenges been? And I can share with them what the concerns are from the people. So I think it's a fair conversation when we talk about how we can improve our city."

Wyatt is the third candidate to announce a mayoral run, including state Sen. Sean Ryan and former Buffalo fire commissioner turned civil activist Garnell Whitfield.
