ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills’ newest big name on offense hit the field for his first full practice with the club on Thursday.

Amari Cooper, wearing his new No. 18 Bills jersey, is trying to get up to speed as quickly as possible while learning the playbook and developing a rapport with quarterback Josh Allen.

He brings a long history as a proven playmaker to the wide receiver room — and a feeling of excitement among that group to have him add another dimension to the offense.

"Same thing like adding another person with money in your household. Help you pay everything. Help everything out,” rookie receiver Keon Coleman said. “Help everybody else get open and just bring more threat to the offense."

“Dynamic, explosive playmaker,” wideout Curtis Samuel added. “Any time he touches the ball he makes something happen. He’s been doing it for a long time now.”

“Super excited,” said fellow pass catcher Khalil Shakir. “I was asleep and my wife woke me up. She was like, ‘y’all just traded for Amari Cooper.’ Shoot, I was stoked to get the opportunity to work with somebody like him who’s just a dog. His route running and everything about his game is something I look up to, so super excited to get to work with him.”

Cooper’s arrival could help this receiver room improve after struggling at times to find consistency as a group this season. From his contributions on gamedays, to lending a veteran voice during practices and meetings, Cooper can provide a boost to this group.

“Everything. How to take care of yourself. Get open. Play in the league. The business of the league. How everything works. The whole nine yards of it,” Coleman said.

Practicing with Cooper for the first time, Shakir took time to observe his skills.

“When he’s running is routes, I’m just kind of watching his feet and how he works within it all,” Shakir said. “Same thing I did with Stefon Diggs, Gabe Davis, Cole Beasley. All the guys that I’ve been blessed enough to play with, some dogs at wideout so, again, just watching his every step.”

It remains to be seen how much Cooper can contribute immediately when the Bills host the Titans on Sunday at Highmark Stadium.
