A $10 million project on Buffalo's East Side has been unveiled.
YMCA Buffalo Niagara officials on Thursday announced their plans to reimagine the William Emslie YMCA on William Street between Jefferson and Fillmore avenues.
The announcement comes just one month after the YMCA showed off plans to invest $5 million into land on Elmwood Avenue to create what they are calling Camp Swan.
“The YMCA’s main purpose is to make our community stronger every day,” John Ehrbar, YMCA Buffalo Niagara president and CEO, said in a statement. “For years, there has been a high demand to do more in East Buffalo. We’re listening and we believe that action needs to be taken. We’re confident that in these new and re-imagined spaces, the YMCA will have the ability to do, and be, more for City of Buffalo residents. While we have high expectations for the YMCA in Buffalo, this critical project will only be possible through strong financial support from our community.”
No date is set as to when the project could potentially break ground.
