A tornado hit part of the city of Buffalo just before 1 p.m. Monday, the National Weather Service has confirmed.

The NWS says an EF-1 tornado touched down near Niagara and Carolina streets.

Most of the damage reported so far has been on the West Side and downtown, according to city and county officials.
