Eleven corrections officers at Collins Correctional Facility were sent to a local hospital Sunday morning after what Spectrum News 1 is told was a possible hazmat situation.
According to New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association Union President Kenny Gold, the officers were responding to an inmate who was attempting suicide.
While performing lifesaving measures on the inmate, all 11 officers began to experience several symptoms, including dizziness, light headedness, vomiting and some even went in and out of consciousness.
Narcan was also administered.
All 11 officers were taken to ECMC and were treated and released.
The condition of the inmate is currently unknown.
This investigation is ongoing.
