This weekend, Buffalo fans were filling Sahlen Field for a different kind of baseball — Banana Ball, to be exact.

“When I say Savannah, you say Banana,” yelled Savannah Bananas cast members from the field.

“Banana Ball is not like baseball, it’s a whole different vibe," said Bananas first base dance coach Maceo Harrison. “It’s faster. It’s quicker-paced. It’s more entertaining."

"Everything is about entertaining fans and keeping it nonstop energy," said team owner Jesse Cole. "And so they’re going to see things they’ve probably never seen before on a baseball field."

The team brought with it a fan base that stretches from as far as Texas to Buffalo.

  • The teams sold out Sahlen Field all weekend

“We’ve been to several of the Bananas events," said fan Brett Losier. "We’ve been to Grayson Stadium. We’ve seen them in Houston. [And we've seen them] here now."

This weekend’s series featured three of 19 total games for Banana Ball’s newest team, the Firefighters, and the teams sold out Sahlen Field every night.

“Just seeing everybody throughout the whole thing all in one spot is really cool," said Firefighters catcher Zachary Bridges. "Buffalo’s been bringing the energy all weekend."

For some fans, the best part is the show.

“They do crazy tricks and they do dances, like TikTok dances,” said fan Chase Gray.

But for fans like Adelyn Losier, her favorite part isn’t the Bananas or the Firefighters.

“That I can scream,” Losier said, not really worrying so much about who wins the game, but having fun. “It doesn’t matter,” she said.
