Starting Monday, the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority's Metro Rail will temporarily suspend above-ground services for a construction project.
Service will be shut down for construction from Monday, July 8, to Thursday, July 11, and again from Saturday, July 20, to Thursday, July 29.
The electrical system will be updated, along with crucial track bed and catenary upgrades, with the goal of enhancing the safety and reliability of the Metro Rail.
To minimize any inconvenience to passengers, the NFTA will provide shuttle services running every 20 minutes between Allen Medical Campus and Canalside station.
“This work is part of our overall plan for rail renewal and necessary in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of our system,” Director of Public Transit James Morrell said in a statement. “We appreciate the patience and understanding of our passengers during this temporary pause.”
Riders are being asked to plan trips ahead and allow for extra time for travel.
