The City of Buffalo on Thursday introduced a new program designed to help veterans get more access to various health and recreational resources called WNYVETS.

Services include 24/7 referrals to mental health counseling, health care, education, and family and legal help.

“We owe our Veterans a debt that is impossible to repay, but in Buffalo, we continue to strive each day to give back and ensure that our Veterans are receiving the benefits and support they and their families may need," Mayor Byron Brown said in part in a statement.

Funding for the program comes from the "Blues4Vets" charity, a project of nonprofit Power of Song, Inc.
