Congressman Nick Langworthy says that the town of West Seneca will receive more than $1.2 million in funding to make improvements to its water infrastructure.
The town plans to replace sections of water main pipe that is prone to breaking to make it's water supply more reliable.
"I'm proud to secure $1.229 million to repair and replace aging water infrastructure in West Seneca," said Congressman Langworthy. "Water District 8 only services residential areas, and this project is vital to ensuring their continued access to clean water. Without this funding, residential water maintenance bills were estimated to increase more than twenty times, a burden most families aren’t prepared to shoulder. I’ll continue working with Supervisor Gary Dickson and other local officials to ensure the needs of our shared constituents are met."
The funding is coming from the new Consolidated Appropriations Act.
"The Town of West Seneca thanks Congressman Langworthy and Senator Schumer for their bipartisan efforts to secure much needed funding for West Seneca Water District 8," West Seneca Supervisor Gary Dickson added. "This kind of funding makes a difference in our budget and the taxes paid by our residents, especially our senior citizens. This project replaces sections of water main pipe that are prone to breaking, therefore making water supply more reliable. We are grateful for the opportunity to pursue funding like this in collaboration with our elected representatives."
Like Langworthy, all New York members of Congress, regardless of party, voted in favor of the legislation.
