KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A candlelight vigil was held last night for the woman killed in a shooting following the Chiefs' Super Bowl festivities.

KC Common Good — a nonprofit focused on "addressing the root causes of violence in Kansas City," according to its website — hosted the event at the Skywalk Memorial Park Thursday night. The park is less than a mile from the site of the shooting.

The vigil mourned the death of Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a radio DJ who was killed while attending the parade with her family.

“I hate that God took such a beautiful person,” a friend of Lopez-Galvan told the crowd. There were a few dozen people in attendance. One person held a Chiefs flag in the background.

“Love and hate are beasts, and the one you feed is the one that grows,” said Kansas City Council member Crispin Rea.

There will also be a show of support for the 22 other people injured in the shooting, including several children.
