A new video has emerged of a Kansas City police officer and other Good Samaritans detaining a person during the parade shooting that left one person dead and more than 20 victims, including children, injured.
The video, shared by Alyssa Marsh Contreras, shows parade attendees tackling a person. An officer, also at the scene, can be heard yelling, "Hey, I got the gun."
"I just heard somebody yelling to stop this guy. (I) tackled him and he was coming in the opposite direction," said Paul Contreras to CNN. "I got the right angle on him and I hit him from behind."
After Contreras struck the person, he said the gun was knocked out of their hand.
"I see the gun on the ground. So I take him down and I'm putting all my body weight on him and then another Good Samaritan comes over and is helping me."
The two then put their weight on the person, who continued resisting, according to Contreras. "He was fighting to get up, but we're fighting to keep him down."
Officials have not said if the person Contreras and others subdued is one of the three detainees currently in police custody or if they are related to the shooting at all.
The investigation is ongoing.
