New York State Police say a person of interest in a deadly shooting on the I-190 South late last month has been arrested on separate charges.

According to a state police spokesperson, a 19-year-old had multiple outstanding warrants and is facing charges related to those warrants at this time. The U.S. Marshal Service's USMS Task Force assisted state police in that person's arrest.

Those warrants are not in connection to the I-190-South shooting, but state police are still calling the individual a person of interest in the broad daylight shooting that left 22-year-old Keyshawn Gault, a City of Buffalo employee, dead.

The victims were employees of the Buffalo Sewer Authority and had just finished a job when they were shot as they drove back to the Sewer Authority building, Mayor Byron Brown said. According to state police, Gault, the front passenger, died at the scene. The driver, Myron Walker, 30, and backseat passenger Lamar Whitfield Jr., 23, also from Buffalo, were wounded but survived.

Authorities believe shots were fired from a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee into a Buffalo Sewer Authority vehicle. They recovered the vehicle late last month.

State police are continuing to investigate.
