Former Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson and current Bills defensive back Kaiir Elam teamed up to make sure kids in need go back to school with backpacks filled with school supplies at the Westin Buffalo Courtyard Hotel in Downtown Buffalo Monday.

Delaware North, other local businesses and the general public joined the cause as well.

Johnson flew to Western New York from his home in Southern California just for this event and to give back. He and Elam say the supply drive was put together with one goal in mind - to give back to Buffalo kids who need it most.

"You know, so I try to take advantage of every opportunity that I have. Whenever I have business lined up with Buffalo, I try to get out in the community and give toward that. I'm just continuously working trying to help everybody," Johnson said.

All items collected through the event will be distributed by The Resource Council of Western New York.

"I just want them to focus on school, and having the best school experience possible, and not have to worry about not having supplies, not having anything they need to be successful as they can in school," Elam said.
