For the first time since 2008, the Buffalo Bandits are champions of the National Lacrosse League.

The Bandits won the title Saturday night against the Colorado Mammoth in spectacular fashion, holding their opponents to a NLL Finals record-low four goals. The KeyBank Center was rocking as the Bandits scored 13 in route to their fifth NLL title.

While he lost out on winning NLL MVP, star forward Dhane Smith was named finals MVP after scoring 23 points in the series, along with a league-record 49 in six playoff games.

Josh Byrne returned to the lineup after missing the first two games of the series with an injury. He scored four goals, including three in the third quarter, and added three assists in the deciding game.

This marked the Bandits third straight appearance in the NLL Championship. In 2019, they were swept by Calgary, and last season, they lost to the Mammoth after holding a 1-0 advantage in the best-of-three series.
