Allegany County will soon be home to a new solar facility.
The New York State Office of Renewable Energy has issued a permit for a 94-megawatt facility to be built in the town of Burns.
"By accelerating the development of renewable energy, we're cementing our position as a national leader in climate action, while creating jobs and spurring economic development across the state," Gov. Kathy Hochul said. "The approval of Moraine Solar brings us closer to surpassing our ambitious climate goals helping create a cleaner and healthier New York where future generations can thrive."
Construction and operation are expected to create at least 130 full-time jobs.
When the project is complete, the facility is expected to generate enough solar energy to power more than 25,000 homes.
