Brothers joining each other in the NFL is always a fun storyline, but BJ Ojulari following in his brother Azeez’s footsteps would be burying the lead on the truly best family nugget, with the LSU pass rusher actually entering the league already part of royalty.
“My grandfather back home in Nigeria, he’s considered a prince,” Ojulari said. “His name is Twin Seven-Seven. He’s an artist and musician. He used to travel the world, so he’s very respected back in Nigeria. His last name is Seven-Seven because he’s a pair of seven sets of twins. He’s the last set. We had a great relationship. That’s where a lot of my pride comes from, just trying to live up to his expectations.”
Ojulari was a steady player for the Tigers over a three-year career, totaling 16.5 sacks and 25.5 tackles for a loss in 31 games, earning First Team All-SEC this past season.
He’s got great bend off the edge at 6’2” and 248 pounds, and showed versatility at LSU by not only going after the quarterback, but also dropping in coverage from time to time.
“I think my mentality is great finishing the play,” Ojulari said. “My playing style is based off a lot of effort. Sideline to sideline plays, chasing stuff down, pursuit, constant strain to the ball are a lot of things that I take pride in.”
BJ’s brother Azeez was a 2nd round pick by the Giants of the 2021 NFL Draft. BJ’s projection ranges likely anywhere on Day 2.
The 2023 NFL Draft takes place Thursday, April 27 – Saturday, April 29.
