ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — One of the final hurdles has been cleared for moving forward on building the new Buffalo Bills stadium in Orchard Park.
The Erie County Stadium Corporation voted on leasing land to the Bills Wednesday morning on which to build their next facility.
They approved of the project, and plan to have light work starting in April, with "big digging" in June.
The $1.14 billion stadium is funded with $600 million in state taxpayer money, $550 million from the Bills and $250 million from Erie County.
"This was kind of a culmination...I think we'll be all set," Stephen Gawlik, senior counsel for Empire State Development, said.
The new stadium is expected to open before the 2026 season.
