AAA says gas prices are steadily falling across Western New York.

The average price is $3.38, down $0.02 since last week. The national average price for a gallon of gasoline is $3.37, down 4 cents since last Monday, according to AAA.

"The national average for a gallon of gas is down once again this week, while prices in New York have fallen slightly across the board," AAA said in a press release. "Favorable oil prices continue to keep prices at the pump falling. This morning oil prices range from $77 to $83 per barrel, consistent with a week ago and well off the highs we saw last year."

Diesel prices are down $0.08 nationwide and averaging around $5.05 per gallon in Western New York. The national average price for a gallon of diesel is $4.41.

To conserve fuel, AAA recommends that motorists map routes, avoid peak traffic times like rush hour, and combine errands into one trip while using cruise control when possible. Drivers should also make sure tire pressure is at the vehicle’s recommended level for the best gas mileage while removing any unnecessary and bulky items from the car since it takes more fuel to accelerate a heavy vehicle.
