AAA says it is working with Erie County to rescue stranded drivers during this weekend’s winter snow storm.
The company has set up a plan with the county to follow behind plows with trucks and rescue people out of vehicles.
AAA also urges people safe at home not to call the company unless it is an absolute emergency.
If you are stranded in your vehicle, there is one important message you should follow.
"We want to make sure that you stay in your vehicles,” AAA director of public relations Elizabeth Carey said. “Unless you see a place that's safe, that you're sure is open that you can safely get to. Otherwise, you want to stay in your vehicles because temperatures are just so cold outside. And the only time you should exit the vehicle is to make sure the tailpipe is free of snow because there could be a situation with carbon monoxide poisoning if the snow is piling up so high that the tail pipe is blocked."
AAA also recommends not to put yourself in danger trying to help others unless you know you are safely able to do so.
