​​​BUFFALO, N.Y. — ​The City of Buffalo is embracing Hispanic heritage with the construction of a Hispanic Heritage Cultural Institute.

$1 million will be used to help fund the project. That money comes from the American Rescue Plan.

It will be located at the corner of Niagara and Hudson Streets on Buffalo’s West Side.

The three story building will feature a museum, art gallery, café, performing arts theatre, broadcast center and learning labs.  

"I think this is so important because culture is important,” Darius Pridgen said. “And what we have seen in Buffalo is investment in culture whether it be in the African American community, the Italian community, and now baby we are doing it over in Hispanic community, and doing it in a big way."

Officials say they will break ground on this project next year.
