​​BUFFALO, N.Y. — ​The Buffalo Sabres have announced the return of the black and red Goathead design as their alternate third jersey this season. 

The team will debut the updated black and red alternate jersey at their November 23 home game against the St. Louis Blues. The team is scheduled to wear the alternate jerseys for 12 games this upcoming season. 

The Sabres went 345-279-114 in 738 regular-season games and won 48 playoff games in the black and red era, earning a 54.5 points percentage in regular-season games and winning 57.4 percent of their playoff games.  

In the original black and red era (1996-2006), Miroslav Satan recorded the most goals (224), assists (232) and points (456) of any Sabres skater in the regular season.
