Rural Niagara Transportation is making it easier for people to get around Niagara County.

The buses will soon have different routes and a new name.

Rural Niagara Transportation will now be called Connect Niagara.

Officials say the new routes will be more direct instead of the current routes, which are set up in loops.

"Anyone who needs bus transportation that is a quicker turnaround would be impacted positively, because instead of waiting four hours to get a round trip route, they can do it in an hour and a half, two hours," Daniel Quinn, confidential assistant to the director of the Department of Public Works, said.

The changes were made after the county got feedback from a survey done by Niagara County Mental Health. People wanted more transportation to shopping centers and medical appointments.

Officials hope to have the new routes up and running by the end of the year.
