Travis Jones is an athlete, ranking top five at the Combine among defensive tackles in the 40, 20 yard shuttle, broad jump and 3 cone drill, where he tied for the fastest by nearly half a second. Oh, and he did it all at 6-4 and around 330 pounds.
"I feel like I can stop the run pretty well. And as a nose I feel I'm pretty good as a pass rusher," Jones said at the Combine.
Jones played both the one and three technique over this three seasons with the Huskies, who didn't have a season in 2020 because of the pandemic. In the end, he registered 8.5 sacks and 19 tackles for a loss in three years on the field, where he usually was the focal point of opposing defenses, including against the best of the best.
"Clemson was a big game for me," Jones said. "I really wanted to go out there and show people I can play with the top teams in the country and I feel like I did that that game. I just feel that game I was more consistent with it. Stopping the run, coming at the ball hard, and low pad level."
Jones may not be an every down defensive tackle, but those athletic traits paired with great size have him likely a later first to second round selection.
