Florida's Kaiir Elam checks a lot of boxes for what the Bills like in their players.

Nothing is given under Sean McDermott and as we've seen with Levi Wallace, the cornerback spot across from Tre'Davious White has been a battle over the years.

"I embrace competition," Elam said at the NFL Combine in early March. "I embraces challenges and match-ups."

Those who win the CB2 job certainly see their fair share of action as teams shy away from the All-Pro White.

"I feel really disrespected when teams target me," Elam said. "I feel like it brought the dog out of me. I try and go out and dominate whoever is in front of me."

Elam blended press-man and zone coverage with the Gators. He has great length for the position, standing over 6'1" with 30 7/8" arms. Speed also part of Elam's game, running a 4.39 second 40 yard dash at the Combine.

"Playing on an island is something nobody in the entire world would ever experience unless you're out there. There's nothing that anybody can do to get that same exact feeling and that excitement. For me, I feel a challenge really motivates me and turns my game up to another level. So I feel I really get excited being on an island out there by myself."

He put that skillset on display immediately at Florida, playing in 13 games and grabbing three interceptions. Elam followed that up by starting all 12 games as a sophomore, adding two more interceptions with 11 pass break-ups, earning 1st team All-SEC.

There was a bit of a dip this past season, where Elam had just one INT.

Still, he approaches his game the same day in and day out.

"I'm chasing self-improvement on a daily basis," Elam said. "I feel like my preparation for the game is unmatched. I'm a guy that's always watching film. I'm always trying to critique. Always trying to get that extra edge on my opponent. Willing to sacrifice my temptations and willing to do what's necessary to help my team win. I have position flexibility. Elite man-to-man ball skills. And I understand the importance of being a great locker room guy because that maximizes the team's potential to win.

Elam's dip this past season has him looking like a late 1st to 2nd round selection.
