NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — Niagara Falls School officials are clearing up some rumors after a violent start to the school year.
Four fights broke out Thursday at the high school involving 21 students and parents. One of whom was injured and taken to the hospital and one was arrested and charged with assault and harassment.
All of those students have been put on a superintendent suspension and will have a hearing.
Due to the outbursts, the school employed additional resource and safety officers, along with police officers who checked bags when students arrived.
Leaders want to make sure everyone knows that no weapons were found, in spite of some social media posts that incited a frenzy.
Going forward, the school will continue to check bags and use metal detector wands at arrival.
The Niagara Falls Peacemakers will also be present at dismissal.
